I am honored to have joined the CISJ community last year, starting as a teacher’s assistant and now serving as a teacher for our Iris Classroom. This past year has been incredibly rewarding, particularly witnessing the children develop their unique personalities.

Originally from Macau, I was born to Filipino immigrants who have lived here since the 1980s. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Creative Arts, majoring in Architecture, I began my professional journey as an Architectural Draftsman and on-site Architect in 2017, working with various interior design and construction companies.

My teaching experience includes working afterschool tutorials with primary students studying from MAC and TIS. Becoming a mother ignited my passion for child development; my daughter began speaking at just 1 year and 10 months, which illustrates the importance of dedicated parents who prioritize their children’s wellbeing.

Currently, I am pursuing my PGDE at USJ for personal growth and development. I am inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, which has been fostering critical thinking and collaboration since World War II. My observations as a parent have shown me that children thrive with minimal materials, often gravitating towards everyday household items like spatulas and brooms, which teach them valuable life skills.

As Carla Rinaldi beautifully stated, “The Reggio Emilia approach is an invitation to learn together, to collaborate with children, to see them as co-constructors of knowledge.” I am excited to continue this journey of growth and learning alongside my students.
