Nair Cardoso is a passionate educator and researcher dedicated to transforming early childhood education. As the former Director of CISJ from 2020 to 2025, she played a pivotal role in enhancing quality learning experiences for young children. Nair established innovative programs that prioritize sensory engagement and focus on holistic development, integrating an art-based learning approach inspired by Reggio Emilia while blending the IAS framework with Macau’s cultural context.

Currently serving as an educational consultant, Nair continues her mission to create inclusive and engaging learning environments that foster growth and curiosity.

Nair is the founder of Macau’s first Reggio Emilia-inspired playgroup and the first to implement this approach in a government-supported nursery. Her pioneering work has positively impacted thousands of children and families, providing them with rich, hands-on learning experiences that encourage exploration and creativity.

he holds a Master’s in Education with a focus on Sensory Play and is currently completing her PhD, where she is researching the effects of sensory experiences on child development. Ms Cardoso is also the author of “The Power of Sensory Play,” a simple guide that outlines the importance of sensory engagement in early learning and offers practical strategies for parents and educators.

Through university teaching, international workshops, and consulting, Ms Cardoso advocates for the integration of sensory play and creative methodologies in educational settings around the globe. She has presented at various international conferences, sharing her insights on the significance of play in fostering emotional regulation, cognitive skills, and social interaction among young children.

Nair believes in placing children’s well-being and family bonds at the heart of every school’s purpose. Her commitment to fostering joyful, impactful learning experiences inspires educators and parents alike, encouraging them to embrace the power of play as a vital component of childhood education. As a former champion and record holder in the track&field, she brings resilience and passion to her work, embodying the spirit of determination and growth she instills in the children she serves.

In addition to her educational endeavors, Nair founded You&Me Family Fitness in 2012, emphasizing the importance of physical well-being in family life. Through her multifaceted approach, she continues to advocate for a holistic view of education that integrates physical, emotional, and cognitive development, ensuring a brighter future for all children.
